Ellen
Cohen
A life-long dancer, Ellen has also been studying, developing, teaching and practicing body-oriented psychotherapy since the mid-‘70s. In her work she draws from a combination of body and energy techniques, including structural myofascial release, Muscular Therapy, Gestalt therapy & Continuum. She dove into Continuum with Emilie Conrad in 1994 and Susan Harper in 1999 and, with their encouragement & authorization, has been exploring & teaching it ever since.
Her experience as an improvisational dancer developed her respect for the sacredness of the moment, the wisdom that can emerge from the unconscious, and the importance of the relationship between client and practitioner. Her passion is listening to creative intuition: her own, her clients’, and her students’, to allow the next correct action, movement, sound, idea, or insight to emerge clearly.
She is a founding member of the non-profit Continuum Teachers Association.
