Daphne
Georghiou
Daphne Georghiou is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Registered Clinical Counselor, and a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist with ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association).
Daphne is also an authorized Continuum Teacher, by Continuum late founder and somatic movement pioneer, Emilie Conrad. She is a certified Halprin Life-Art Process practitioner from Tamalpa Institute - the first in-studio training center for body-based Expressive Arts Therapy, and art-based Somatic Movement Therapy. Daphne's work draws upon dance pioneer, Anna Halprin's, Movement Ritual and dance as a healing art. She has studied closely with Daria Halprin, co-founder and director of Tamalpa Institute.
As a somatics practitioner, she also draws from her training as a Certified Acupressure Massage Therapist and an energetic healer.
Daphne aims to build and nurture healing environments, which adhere to the creative expression of the individual in so far as they cultivate a climate for self-understanding, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, somatic-awareness and a harmonious coexistence with others.
Daphne holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute - a Jungian and Depth psychology based school. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Individual and Child Counselor with a private practice in Vancouver, BC.
